BHASNet Partners with Saskatchewan Health Authority to Improve Sickle Cell Care

A new collaboration to improve blood disorder care in Saskatchewan.

BHASNet is excited to announce a new partnership with the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) to improve care for patients with sickle cell disease and other blood disorders.

The partnership will focus on three key areas:

  • Cultural Competency Training: BHASNet will deliver training sessions to SHA staff on culturally responsive care for patients with sickle cell disease and other blood disorders. The training will be co-developed with patients and families to ensure it reflects lived experience.
  • Patient Experience Panels: BHASNet will facilitate opportunities for patients and families to share their experiences with SHA teams, helping clinicians understand what matters most to the people they serve.
  • Resource Sharing: BHASNet and SHA will work together to ensure that up-to-date, plain-language materials are available in hospitals and clinics across Saskatchewan.

“This partnership represents a significant step forward in our mission to bridge the gap between community expertise and healthcare delivery,” said Immanuela Ezugba, Chairperson of BHASNet. “We’re excited to work with the SHA to improve outcomes for patients and families.”

The partnership builds on existing relationships between BHASNet and healthcare providers in Saskatchewan and is expected to expand to other regions in the coming months.
